Richard D. Thompson is a research director in the INRA Agroecology UMR at Dijon, where he is jointly responsible for a team studying the control of seed development. He has a Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh, and a Habilitation in Genetics from Cologne University.
Director of the INRA Research Unit for Grain Legume Genetics and Ecophysiology (UMR LEG) at Dijon 2002- 2010. Fulfils teaching duties in plant biology at the University of Burgundy.
He has published more than 70 peer-reviewed articles and a European patent in the area of genetic regulation of seed development. His team has generated public TILLING resources for Medicago truncatula and for Pisum sativum.
