Dr Gérard Duc is the Director of Research at INRA, Agroecology 1347 Unit.
Holds a PhD in genetics and plant breeding (University of Paris Sud, Orsay, 1978) and HDR in agronomy and breeding (ENSAIA, Nancy, 1986).
Activities are on genetics and breeding of grain legumes, focussing on traits of nitrogen nutrition, root and nodule development, seed composition (works conducted on pea, faba bean, Medicago truncatula). He is also involved in genetic resources description and maintenance.
At INRA, responsible for an interdisciplinary group analysing and promoting research activities on the grain legume chain.
80 publications in international peer-reviewed journals. Active in AEP for several years and for diverse activities.
Since 2006, President of Scientific Council of Union Nationale Interprofessionnelle des Protéagineux-Paris-France and of Protein Grain Legume Section at CTPS for registration of grain legume varieties in France.
